Growing Confident Kids, One Day at a Time!

School counselors at Mount Vernon Elementary Schools play an important role in helping students grow both academically and emotionally. They support children in building strong friendships, learning how to manage big feelings, developing problem-solving skills, and gaining confidence in the classroom. Elementary counselors work closely with teachers, staff, and families to ensure each child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn each day. They also provide guidance during times of change and connect families with helpful resources when additional support is needed.

At Dan Emmett Elementary, Christy Danzuso serves as the school counselor. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor and Licensed School Counselor with more than 20 years of experience working with children, teens, and families. Mrs. Danzuso earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Chatham College. Her professional experience includes work at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, community-based agencies, private practice, and extensive school-based counseling services.

Mrs. Danzuso is dedicated to helping every student feel valued, included, and empowered to succeed. Through individual and small-group support, collaboration with staff, and strong partnerships with families, she works to ensure that all students at Dan Emmett Elementary have the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
